Introduction: From Concerns to Decision
„"Are you having marital problems? Sounds like you're trying to escape."“
„"Isn't traveling alone far too dangerous for women?"“
„"Don't you feel lonely when you're traveling?"“
„"How does your partner feel about it? Isn't it a bit selfish to travel alone?"“
Such questions and Reservations I encountered them often. They show how quickly people judge without seeing the positive aspects of traveling alone. Or Giving unsolicited advice, even though they have no experience with this topic.
My path to the decision
Despite a happy marriage, I felt drawn to South Tyrol on my own. Not to escape, but out of a yearning for freedom and a thirst for adventure. My husband, Steffen, was fully immersed in his self-employment.
I was looking for a break from everyday life. And I wanted to reward myself for the hard work of the past year. For over a year, I worked intensively to land a top-notch position as a consultant.
This required a complete career change from a completely different field to the medical device sector. The transition was only possible through months of further training and personal dedication.
Travel as a self-reward
Traveling alone represented self-love and appreciation for my own achievements. Yes, I had lived in the USA as an au pair for two years when I was 18. But the decision to travel alone now as a married woman was a new challenge.
„"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."“ – Helen Keller
In the following, I would like to share my experiences of traveling alone as a woman. You will discover everything I learned and why I wholeheartedly recommend that every woman experience traveling alone.
It's a fantastic opportunity, to find oneself and to go through life with confidence as a woman. I have met interesting people and been able to overcome insecurities.
Solo travel vs. group travel – which do you prefer?
Your decision is final: Traveling alone!
But what's actually right for you? A solo exploration or a trip in a group?
Both species have their Advantages and disadvantages, especially for us women who want to take the plunge into adventure.
Freedom on solo trips
Traveling alone, Especially for women, it means pure freedom. You determine the goal, the path, and the pace. Ideal for overcoming your own limitations and building self-confidence.
Here you will encounter yourself and learn what is inside you.
The advantage: No compromises, pure spontaneity. The challenge? Being brave, even if you're shy.
Stronger together – traveling alone with a group
In one tour group You'll find safety and community. You can immediately meet new people, share experiences, and perhaps forge lifelong friendships.
The downside? You have to make compromises when planning your trip.
A short trip as the perfect start
A weekend alone in a new cityPerfect for trying out solo travel. This short break offers the ideal balance between adventure and self-discovery – a first, gentle step out of your comfort zone.
Whether you're traveling solo or in a group, every experience enriches you. Enjoy your journey to yourself and discover how liberating and inspiring a solo vacation as a woman can be.
Why I chose the tour group
My decision was made. But I was faced with the question of whether to risk a solo vacation or travel with a group. I had already been to the USA alone and wanted to prove to myself that I could still manage everything on my own.
Because of my Life motives I know I'm someone who enjoys the company of others. That's why I ultimately decided on a tour group. This choice offered me the best of both worlds: the freedom to travel independently, having evenings free, and still having a network within the group. An ideal compromise.
And it was the best decision. I not only discovered new places in South Tyrol, but also met people who shared my passion for hiking.
In addition, I have the strong Theme: "Enjoying Food"„ I was thrilled to be able to enjoy local specialties with my tour group. We visited small restaurants and sampled our way through the country's cuisine. The combination of food and culture was a unique experience for me.

Your life, your decision
In a world full of expectations, it's an art to forge your own path. We women, in particular, often face the challenge of balancing societal expectations with our personal needs. This also applies to the decision to travel alone.
Between expectations and your needs
Many hear phrases like „A woman should not travel alone.„.
But why not, actually?
The fear of traveling alone often reflects societal expectations. But what matters is you and your happiness. Learn to... Mastering the expectations of others. Decide for yourself whether you want to walk this path alone or with company. Break free from Guilt.
Your travel style: planning or adventure?
Traveling alone as a woman requires self-confidence, inner strength, and a positive presence. Yours Character traits They determine how you behave. Often you don't even notice this in everyday life.
Every person has "opposing" poles within them. The stronger we tend towards one side of these facets, the more extreme our behavior will be in similar situations.
Inward orientation vs. outward orientation
- Are you the type of person who prefers to travel completely alone? Do you want time for reflection and introspection without feeling lonely?
- Or do you prefer traveling in a group? Do you only feel truly comfortable and invigorated when you're around other people?
Rest-oriented vs. experience-oriented
- When planning your trip, do you prefer relaxing activities to adrenaline rushes?
- Or do you prefer travel experiences that challenge the senses and involve a certain degree of risk?
Control orientation vs. spontaneity
- Do you plan your trips carefully and only make your choice after thoroughly analyzing the options?
- Do you choose travel destinations spontaneously and let yourself be guided by spontaneous impulses, without planning for a long time?
Stress perception vs. stress resilience
- Do you perceive the challenges of travel planning as very intense? Do you then have to expend more energy to reduce the stress of travel preparation?
- Or do you have a high stress tolerance, so that the stress factors of travel planning only become noticeable to you very late?
The degree to which these character traits are expressed varies from person to person. This serves as a guide so that you can optimally adapt your travel destinations and style of travel to your personality.
My travel style
The Analysis of my personality has shown that I have stronger tendencies in that direction Stress experience and External orientation Planning my trips can be stressful, so I prefer to take care of it before I travel. That's why the guided excursions in South Tyrol were ideal for me. They offered the right balance of organization and shared experiences.
Mine Rest and experience orientation They're evenly balanced. I enjoy quiet evenings in a hotel just as much as intense experiences that challenge my senses. A multi-day wellness holiday wouldn't be enough for me.
I like a good mix of planned activities and spontaneous decisions. On the one hand, I appreciate it when some things are fixed, but on the other hand, I like to be surprised by spontaneous moments. This balance makes my travels particularly enriching.

How traveling alone taught me to listen to myself
Self-discovery and growth
My solo journey was a turning point. I learned to shape my own life, full of self-confidence and Love for myself. She taught me that I can find peace and strength everywhere, within myself. Now I see every day as an adventure, whether I'm far away or at home.
Dealing with challenges
On this journey, I learned to deal with challenges differently. When something went wrong, I looked for solutions instead of wallowing in the problems. This attitude changed my understanding of difficulties.
I realized that every problem contains an opportunity for growth.
Furthermore, I was open and respectful towards everyone. But I was also shown that I don't get along equally well with everyone. That rejection is natural and doesn't always have anything to do with me.
I learned not to be influenced by the opinions of others and to defend my needs and boundaries.
The power of intuition
The silence and solitude, which initially worried me, turned into precious moments. They gave me space to perceive my thoughts and feelings and to get to know myself better.
The most valuable lesson I learned was to listen to my intuition. My inner voice became my best advisor, whether choosing my next goal or dealing with strangers. I learned to trust its whispers, which greatly boosted my self-confidence.
